Free keys, embargoes and AI.

How we handle review copies, embargoes, conflicts of interest and AI. If something here doesn’t hold up, email us.

Review copies

Developers and publishers sometimes give us free copies to review. Every review says whether we got a copy or bought the game. A free copy doesn’t change the verdict or the score. We don’t take payment, gifts beyond the game, or conditions on what we say.

Embargoes

We never publish before an embargo lifts. Reviews are scheduled to go up when it does.

Conflicts of interest

Our reviewer is making an action rogue-lite, so reviews of action rogue-lites carry a note saying so. Games made by friends or former colleagues get the same note. Our reviewer’s own game never gets promoted here.

How we use AI

This is a one-person site, so AI handles a lot of the busywork: finding upcoming games, tracking embargoes, drafting emails to developers, and turning our play notes into a first draft. The person who played the game edits every review. AI doesn’t pick or suggest the verdict or the score, and it doesn’t add opinions we didn’t have. Screenshots and footage come from the games or their official press kits, never from AI image generators.

Affiliate links and sponsors

There are none right now. If that changes, they’ll be labeled where they appear. Sponsors can’t buy coverage, and we don’t publish sponsored reviews.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change at the top of the review. Tell us at hello@wishlistornot.com.
